Kelly Services is seeking to hire an experienced shipping associate for our customer located in Columbia, SC.
Responsibilities include (but not limited to) being able to quickly and accurately:
- Pick all items/all zones
- Pack orders for shipment
- Manifest orders for shipment
- Cycle count items daily
- Receive product, sometimes in large volumes – includes tracking and planning for incoming shipments, counting and verifying product, entering into a database and timely put-away
- Daily stocking and oversight of product inventory, using electronic tools and software
- Analyzing inventory counts and appropriately adjusting inventory when discrepancies occur.
- Analyzing various types of data from our peak season (productivity, accuracy, fulfillment time, etc.) to help recommend and implement procedural changes within the shipping department.
- Act as a point of contact and coach for questions and issues for spring team personnel during our peak season
- Implementing and completing special projects in the off season (examples include changes in layout, labeling, training, overall processes and procedures, etc.)
Qualified candidates should possess the following:
- Comfort level using keyboard and mouse, quick and accurate alpha and numeric keyboarding skills. Basic MS Outlook, Word and Excel needed. Confident learning new, proprietary systems.
- Willingness and ability to work on your feet, to lift up to 50 lbs regularly throughout the day, which could include bending and stooping.
- Proven ability to manage time and priorities, to plan and to execute work efficiently.
- Willingness/ability to transition between multiple roles throughout the shipping department (as described above), and occasionally in other departments as needed.
- Basic analytical skills to run reports, analyze data and use that analysis to help implement appropriate actions or changes in the shipping department.
- The ability to work 50-60 hour work weeks, including weekends during our peak season (March-June).
- Availability to work during semi-annual physical inventory – the weeks of July 4 and Christmas. Participation in physical inventory is mandatory.
This position will start in January and will be in effect until June of 2021. A candidate who exemplifies the following traits may be considered for conversion to full time hire:
