Bookkeeper / Accounting Specialist
Location: Syracuse, NY
Pay Range: $22.00 – $28.00 per hour
Schedule: 8AM – 5PM with an hour lunch Monday–Friday


Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Bookkeeper / Accounting Specialist to support the accounting and financial operations. This role is responsible for payroll processing, accounts payable support, expense tracking, and assisting with financial reporting and reconciliations. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and has strong attention to accuracy and deadlines.


Key Responsibilities

  • Process weekly payroll, including auditing ClockShark timesheets for accuracy

  • Print, prepare, and distribute timecards and employee expense reports; obtain management approvals

  • Review expense sheets and reimbursement receipts to ensure accuracy and compliance

  • Support accounts payable (AP) functions, including reviewing and filing invoices

  • Maintain and update open invoice tracking sheets

  • Record American Express (Amex) transactions in Intacct and ensure proper job costing

  • Assist with monthly Amex statement reconciliations

  • Support vendor statement reviews and preparation for AP meetings

  • Assist with monthly financial statement close processes

  • Ensure accurate data transfer from Sage CM into Intacct

  • Support audits, financial planning & analysis (FP&A), and other ad hoc accounting projects

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in bookkeeping or accounting required

  • Experience with payroll processing (weekly payroll preferred)

  • Familiarity with accounting systems such as Intacct, Sage CM, or similar ERP systems preferred

  • Strong understanding of accounts payable and expense management

  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with job costing and construction or project-based accounting

  • Knowledge of financial reporting and reconciliations

  • Prior experience supporting audits or FP&A processes
