Our client, a large university system, is looking for a contract ASL Interpreting and Captioning Coordinator to support their team with scheduling and coordination of interpreting and real-time captioning services. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being organized, responsive, and knowing that their work directly supports access to services across campus.
 
This position focuses primarily on receiving, processing, and scheduling daily requests for sign language and oral interpreting services and real-time captioning services for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
 
Pay: $23.50 per hour, with flexibility based on experience
Assignment length: covering a leave of absence through May or June
Schedule: 7:30 am to 3:30 pm, Monday-Friday
Location: Primarily remote with occasional on campus support as needed
 
What the Role Looks Like

  • You will serve as the opener for the team, meaning you are one of the first people checking requests and messages each day. When schedules change, you help keep everything moving by reviewing availability and assigning coverage using the scheduling system.

  • You will work closely with other coordinators, staff members, and interpreters daily to schedule services as requests come in. Communication happens primarily through email and chat.

  • During slower periods, you may help process invoices and complete other administrative tasks.

 
Tools You Will Use

  • Google Workspace including Gmail, Google Chat, Zoom, and shared documents

  • Interpreter scheduling software

 
Qualifications

  • Four years of general office experience

  • Two years of experience providing scheduling or referral services

  • Two years of customer service experience interacting with a wide variety of people

  • Basic conversational American Sign Language skills strongly preferred
