Cost Accounting Manager – Precious Metals

We are partnering with a well-established industrial manufacturer specializing in precious metal processing to hire a Cost Accounting Manager. This role will focus heavily on precious metals accounting, commodity costing, and manufacturing cost analysis within a complex pricing environment.
This position is ideal for someone who understands the unique financial nuances of commodities such as gold, silver, palladium, copper, aluminum, or steel, particularly where pricing fluctuates daily based on market indexes. The role will work closely with operations and finance leadership to ensure accurate costing, metals tracking, and financial analysis.
This position reports to the Controller, has one direct report, and will support operations at the North Attleboro, MA facility, with occasional travel to Pennsylvania (approximately twice per year).
Key Responsibilities
- Manage cost accounting processes for precious metals and manufacturing operations
- Monitor and maintain standard costing in a manufacturing environment
- Analyze commodity-based pricing and invoicing tied to daily market indexes
- Track and reconcile precious metals inventory and usage
- Develop and maintain overhead rates and cost allocations
- Perform gross margin analysis and cost variance analysis
- Support general ledger activities related to cost accounting
- Assist with budget development and financial forecasting
- Work with operations to ensure accurate cost tracking and reporting on the production floor
- Support data analysis and reporting using advanced tools
- Oversee and mentor one Metals Coordinator
Qualifications
- Experience in cost accounting within manufacturing
- Background working with precious metals (gold, silver, palladium) or other commodities such as copper, steel, or aluminum
- Understanding of commodity pricing structures and index-based invoicing
- Experience with standard costing in a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of:
- Overhead rate development
- Gross margin analysis
- General ledger and financial reporting
- Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle (SAP preferred)
- Strong data analysis and data management skills
- Advanced proficiency in:
- Excel
- Access
- Power BI
- Experience with relational databases is a plus
- Consignment metals / tolling experience is a plus

- Salary: $120K – $180K depending on experience
- Schedule: Hybrid (remote not available)
- Location: North Attleboro, MA
- Travel: Occasional travel to Pennsylvania (approximately twice per year)
